Make Ready Home offers more than large renovations. Its Fort Worth page also lists handyman work and property-turnover services. If you’re choosing between it and Smart Fix, the size of the job is a starting question, not a reason to dismiss one company.

What Make Ready Home’s process adds
The company’s Fort Worth service page describes a free in-person walk-through. For larger projects, its process includes design and material choices before the full bid and build.
That can help when you know the room needs work but haven’t settled on the plan. Ask which design deliverables are included, when fees begin, and who owns the drawings if you don’t proceed.
Make Ready Home’s main site also presents options with different levels of change. You can discuss a limited update as well as a larger renovation. Get the scope in writing instead of assuming a company with remodeling services only accepts whole-house jobs.
Where Smart Fix fits a defined repair
Smart Fix can begin with a free phone or photo review of your list. Our $95 Smart Scan is an in-person assessment. Repairs are priced at $145 an hour with a $170 minimum, subject to the agreed work and materials.
One completed Fort Worth upper-cabinet repair was recorded at $386. It involved securing the cabinet and its top trim. The goal was to make the existing cabinet secure, which gave the job a clear boundary.
That kind of scope lets you compare two providers without first designing a new kitchen. If you also want a different layout or new cabinets, ask for those choices as separate parts of the proposal.
For a property turnover, start with the deadline
A home between occupants may need several small tasks across different rooms. Walk through it once and make a single list. Mark the work needed before move-in and the improvements that can wait.
| Part of the plan | Ask both companies |
|---|---|
| Access | Who opens and locks the home each day? |
| Priorities | Which repairs must be complete before the move-in date? |
| Finish | Does the price include painting and final cleanup? |
| Purchases | Who orders and checks the supplied materials? |
| Changes | Who can approve extra work, and how is the price recorded? |
Make Ready Home’s turnover services are a reason to include it in that conversation. Smart Fix can discuss the repair scope on our Fort Worth page. Neither service menu guarantees availability for a particular deadline.
Read the whole bid before comparing totals
A renovation proposal may include design time and coordination that a simple repair quote doesn’t need. Have those services named and priced so you can judge their value for your home.
Our Fort Worth French door replacement is a useful example of a finish boundary. The recorded $2,532.50 job included drywall patching, while the homeowner planned to paint. A second bid that includes painting would promise more work.
We haven’t verified a matching Make Ready Home quote or a fixed public workmanship-warranty period. Request both directly. Smart Fix offers a written one-year labor guarantee, with the coverage stated in the job’s terms.
If your plan is still taking shape, Make Ready Home’s walk-through and design process may be worth exploring. If you can name the repairs you want, send Smart Fix the list and photos and compare the proposed work before choosing.
