For an Arlington home with several repairs, compare the whole list before choosing between Smart Fix and Hank’s. A door replacement may need frame work and paint as well as a new door. Those details can explain more of the price than the name on the truck.
Smart Fix publishes this guide. Sources were checked on September 20, 2026. We haven’t used Hank’s service; the local project example below is our own documented work.
Confirm the address and visit first
Hank’s advertises DFW repair and remodeling services. Give its office your Arlington ZIP code and the work you need before arranging a visit. We didn’t verify a promise that it takes every project throughout Arlington.
Smart Fix’s Arlington service page is the starting point for our local work. We also need to review the scope before confirming a date.
Hank’s advertises a free home walk-through. Smart Fix offers a free phone or photo review and a $95 Smart Scan in-person assessment. Ask each office what its visit will produce: a rough discussion, a written quote, or a more detailed repair assessment.
Use a real door project to compare the scope
Our Arlington exterior door replacement had a recorded price of $1,890. It involved two prehung exterior doors, with fitting, sealing, and hardware adjustments. The project page gives you the actual work behind that figure.
If you’re requesting similar work, photograph the full opening as well as the damaged area. Include the door size if you have it. Ask what the contractor will do if the old frame or sill needs repair after removal.
| Part of the job | What to have written into the quote |
|---|---|
| Door and hardware | Who supplies them and which items are included |
| Opening | Any planned frame or sill repair |
| Finish | Caulk, trim, and the painted area |
| Disposal | Removal of the old door and debris |
| Extra damage | How a revised price is approved |
That completed Smart Fix price isn’t a current package or a Hank’s estimate. It is evidence of the scope we handled. Your opening and chosen materials may need a different plan.
Compare guarantees without assuming a fixed term
Hank’s current terms and conditions place the warranty period and coverage in the project documents. Get those documents for your quote. A general guarantee on a website doesn’t settle what applies to a supplied door, paint, or existing frame.
Smart Fix offers a written one-year labor guarantee for qualifying workmanship. Ask us for its coverage and exclusions too. The useful comparison is the written protection for your actual job.
For either company, find out who takes the call if the door begins sticking again. Keep the estimate and final invoice, including any changes made during the work.
Price the finished repair
Smart Fix’s current rate is $145 an hour with a $170 repair minimum. We didn’t verify a current public Hank’s rate that supports calling either company cheaper.
A longer list may let you handle several tasks during the same visit. It may also contain work that needs drying time or a separate specialist. Ask the contractor to identify those tasks before you plan your day around a single appointment.
Hank’s walk-through is worth considering if you want to discuss the list at home. Smart Fix can start with the photos and help define our proposed work. Send us your Arlington repair list and compare that scope with Hank’s written offer.
